Whew – 12 miles, took us 7 hours with breaks. Light rain most of the day – we put on rain gear after a short bit on the trail and kept in on. The first six miles were hilly, tough slog. We knew we were in for a long day so we fortified ourselves at breakfast.

Then a quick shower before heading to dinner. Locals on the trail told us how good the food was and to try the haddock and mustard pie, boy were they right.
The pie, mashed potatoes, broccoli, carrots, cabbage and gravy. The George inn is great and Ed, the owner, is fantastic.
