Friday’s post, no WiFi at Matfen High House last night.
Started off with porridge with scotch whisky on top. Then Potts Taxi picked us up and dropped us off where we ended yesterday.

Past the farmhouse and back into the fields.

Walked passed St. Bartholomew’s Church in Kirkwhelpington that was built in the 13th century; we met the woman who lives next door – her house was even older. She told us that outside the small church in the next village was a box with snacks and water for walkers. Yeah – the box had a bag of trail mix, we left a £3 donation.

The tallest stile yet for crossing a fence

The village with the trail mix!

What’s a day without cows? They were on the far side of the field when we started to cross. They were on our tails as we got to the exit gate.

We finished the 12 miles by 3:45 and waited for our ride to our B&B. Our home, the Matfen High House.

Tomorrow, only 9 miles. We’ll start walking between 9:45 and 10:00. Tomorrow we finish St. Oswald’s Way and start Hadrian’s Wall.
