16+ Miles, 2 Castles, 4 Golf Courses, Dolphins, Beach Walk

We slogged it out, left B & B in Embleton at 8:45 AM and arrived at our hotel in Warkworth at 5:45 PM – Whew!

Skipped the English Breakfast and went with porridge, toast, yogurt and fresh fruit salad.

First castle off in the distance

Watching for trail markers sometimes hidden in the grass

Approaching the castle

Leaving the castle

The trail followed the coastline, through the dunes and then a section on the beach, tide was out.

Short foot bridge

Walking the beach section

Trail left the beach and we were back into the dunes

We stopped and ate our sandwiches on a bench.

An hour later, we needed a boost and stopped for tea and a latte.

Fantastic tea house

Mare ordered the Cream Tea – a pot of tea, fruit scone, jam and clotted cream. We split the scone. We earned it.

Reenergized, we headed out for the final 4 miles. Another castle coming into view.

Finally, Warkworth, our stopping point.

Entering the town

Our hotel for the night, a welcome site

Long day. Checked in, boots came off, got cleaned up, and hanging out.

Tomorrow, a short 12 miles – piece of cake!
