The Sea, Terns, Golf Courses and a Castle

What a day. A good breakfast to start, first a fresh fruit plate

A bowl of porridge

And then

We followed the sea coast, walking in the dunes and across golf courses

The trail was well marked

A terrific foot bridge crossing

We took a detour to view the tern nesting area. The terns were within 10 feet of us nesting in the grasses. The arctic terns were up close and we saw the little terns through the spotting scope as they were nesting on the beach.

We were impressed by the unspoiled dune land that had been set aside just for the birds, and how much was available for public access.

The warden talked with us about the birds, then we backtracked to the trail.

Most of our walk today was on this type of path.

Another castle in the distance, we’ll be closer tomorrow.

Checking the guidebook

Tonight we’re staying in Embleton at the Jubilee House

Tomorrow is a 16 miler.

We’re having breakfast at 8:00 AM, then out the door, and back on the trail. No time for lollygagging tomorrow.
