Terrific day. Started with an English Breakfast. Let’s just say we didn’t need to stop for lunch.

Hit the trail at 9:30 AM and we were on the mainland by 11:00 AM. The Pilgrim’s Crossing is through the sand and water.

Our path, St Oswald’s, follows the causeway. Heavy traffic.

We did move off the road for cars

This is one of the rescue houses on the pilgrim’s route, if you get caught in the incoming tide, climb in and wait it out. The poles mark the route.

This rescue house is along the causeway

Safely across. St Oswald’s Way follows St Cuthbert’s for part of the day.

The way ahead

Well marked, for the most part, we referred to our guidebook a lot

Across fields

Past sheep

Somewhere along here Sue slipped in the muck and into the stinging nettles. Dirty, stinky and stinging but onward.
Over fences

More fields

Past great country farms and houses

Our home for the night, the Farmhouse Guesthouse

Sue washed her pants out, her backpack is still a stinking mess.
Tomorrow only 11 miles!
