Where’s the path?

Started the day with an English Breakfast – porridge, eggs, bacon for me and a veggie sausage for Mare, fresh fruit, tea/coffee.

Anne, the inn keeper was kind enough to make us sandwiches for lunch with chips.

We headed out to check out the route we will be on when we leave Holy Island on Thursday – St Oswald’s Way, St Cuthbert’s Way and Coastal Path are joined for this section.

When we cross the causeway we now know where to pick up the trail and what to expect.

Cyclists, walkers and cars were already on the causeway going to Holy Island. We stayed on the mainland and walked a section of Coastal Path heading north toward Scotland.

Path was in the tall wet grass, rain pants came in handy.

The tide was out, swans were in

Tomorrow, Anne will give us a ride from the inn to the road (a 15 minute walk without luggage and, a gravel drive isn’t good for wheeled luggage), from there we hope to flag down the bus to take us over to Holy Island.

It’s 4:30 and time for sandwiches, we ate the chips a long time ago.
