Guided Tour of Camden Town and Much More

We met up with Paul, our personal greeter, tour guide, in front of King’s Cross Train Station. We booked a free tour with London Greeters before leaving home. Londoner’s who love their city provide free walking tours.

Paul took us around King’s Cross Station, stopped by Platform 9 3/4, we missed the Hogwort’s Express.

Then over to neighboring St Pancras Station. Both stations have been updated and are great spots to grab eats and drinks, and catch a train.

Next a quick stop at the British Library. The Lindisfarne Gospels Book was out on loan. Our first walk begins at Lindisfarne, the monks transcribed the gospels in the 7th century. We did see the Magna Carta (1 of 4 remaining copies in the world), and assorted Beatles items.

Then Paul took us around the Camden area, we walked along the canal tow path

To the Camden Market where we said goodbye to Paul. Thanks to Paul we saw things we would never have seen. Great fun.

Next we caught the 168 bus to the British Museum. You could spend days at the museum. We limited ourselves to the Rosetta Stone,

the Elgin Marbles, removed from the Parthenon by the British,

and a few rooms with items from 100-200 A.D. when the Romans were in Britain. We will be walking Hadrian’s Wall build by the Romans.

Back to King’s Cross for a break

Tomorrow, leaving London on the 1:00 PM train to Berwick Upon Tweed and taxi to Beal.

On the way to the train, we’re stopping at the laundry to do a load of clothes.
